Murungai Keerai Podi
The botanical name of drumstick tree is Moringa Oleifera. It is a tropical plant grown for its nutritious leafy greens, flower buds, and mineral-rich green fruit pods. Every part of the tree – leaves, pod, fruits, sap, seeds, oil, flowers, roots and bark has medicinal properties. Moringa leaves have Ayurvedic properties. It is one of the greatest gifts kept aside for us by our Mother Nature. We can make many tasty dishes with murungai keerai which is holding a large amount of nutrient values with it. Murungai keerai podi is a simple and tasty dish. This dish goes well with steamed rice. These leaves are rich with a number of important health benefits, which make your food both healthy and tasty. It's an instant main course.
Ingredients

2 bowl of murungai keerai leaves

50 g gingelly oil

1 tablespoon of toor dal

1 teaspoon of urad dal
-
1 teaspoon of coriander seeds
-
15 dry red chillies
-
Tamarind gooseberry size
-
1 teaspoon of asafoetida powder

Crystal salt
Preparation

Wash the curry leaves and pat dry them.

In a pan, roast the coriander seeds, toor dal, urad dal, and red chilli. Roast each of them separately.

Roast them till the dal turns brown. Add the tamarind along with it and roast it.

Roast in a medium low flame without burning it.

Roast the pat dry curry leaves.

Roast the required crystal salt.

Allow it to cool.

Add the asafoetida powder to the roasted items and grind everything together coarsely.
Healthy and tasty Murungai Keerai Leaves Podi is ready! Serve it with hot steamed rice.
Tips / variations:

If crystal asafoetida is used, roast them in oil before grinding.

Adding a few cloves of garlic will give a good flavour.
